The micro-manipulator consists of three independent, lightweight translation tables that provide three-dimensional, independent XYZ movement (linear range 13mm). The top stage can be freely adjusted from 0° to 90°, the 4th dimension provides positioning versatility. Each stage guide is a precision linear steel ball with a precision ground steel rod. Displacement adjustment is made with a fine-toothed micrometer head, which is placed in the center of the translation table for easy operation. Spring reset eliminates axial clearance and provides excellent stability. Based on these features, this micro-manipulator is ideally suited for animal experiments requiring precise positioning, such as electrophysiology and drug injections. With the addition of a head fixation, it becomes a complete set of insulated stereotaxic instruments especially suited for small animals.
